The Rev. Mr. John A. Heidt passed away quietly at his home in Woodstock, Vermont on February 22, 2016 at the age of 96.  He is survived by his wife, Nancy M. Heidt; son Jeffrey L. Heidt (Myra Green) of Lincoln, MA; daughter, Dorothy Ferro (Joseph) of Bedford, MA; daughter-in-law, Patricia Kravitz of Mansfield, MA; William Vickery (Amy) of New Boston, NH; Benjamin Vickery (Cris) of Gorham, ME; and 13 grandchildren.  He was predeceased by his son, Peter E. Heidt; and daughter, Nancy Louise Heidt.

He completed high school at Lincoln School Teachers College in New York City. His family lived on Riverside Drive and they attended the Riverside Church where, as a young man, he was mentored by the Rev. Harry Emmerson Fosdick.  After graduating from Brown University and Harvard Divinity School, he was ordained at The Second Congregational Church of Winchester, MA, where he became the Associate Pastor.  He was Associate Pastor at the First Church in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Pastor of the Pleasant Street Congregational Church, Arlington, MA and Weston Congregational Church, Weston, MA.

He will be remembered for his good humor and fondly missed by his family and friends. He was a member of the North Pomfret Congregational Church, UCC, North Pomfret.

Memorial services were held at the North Pomfret Congregational Church, North Pomfret, Vermont on March 5, 2016.  Memorial donations can be made to the Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society, PO Box 702, Brownsville, 05037.
