The Rev. Dr. Erwin Bode passed away in Arvada, CO on April 9, 2022. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Joanne C. (Grollmus) Bode, and his children Karen Johnson (Sigurd) Arvada, CO; Eric Bode (Annie Murray) Columbus, OH; and Michael Bode (Stephanie) Indianapolis, IN.  

In his many years of ministry he served at Mystic Side Congregational Church, Everett, MA, St. Martin's United Church of Christ, Dittmer, MO, he was Director of Grand Valley Ministry (a campus and house church ministry) in Allendale, MI, and Director of the Indiana Network for Higher Education Ministries (working with fifteen denominational campus ministry programs in Indiana).  He served as Associate Conference Minister of the historic Massachusetts Conference, UCC for the Northeast MA area, and also as the Interim Conference Minister in 2000–2001.  

He received his BA from Elmhurst College, Elmhurst, IL; a BD from Eden Theological Seminary, St. Louis, MO; an STM from Andover Newton Theological Seminary, Newton Centre, MA; and an Honorary Doctor of Divinity from Eden Seminary, St. Louis, MO.

He joyfully visited 5 continents, 34 countries, and 50 states.  His interests were planning and enjoying travel, reading history and biography, sharing meaningful conversations, meeting new friends, watching sports, listening to jazz, walking with Jo, playing tennis, and spending time with his family who loved him so much.

His family will hold a private memorial service in May. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.  Memorial gifts may be sent to Eden Theological Seminary, 475 E. Lockwood Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63119.
