The Rev. Dr. Charles N. Gross died unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 30, 2019.  Chuck is survived by his wife Kathleen with whom he shared 44 years of marriage; a son Brian Gross (and daughter-in-law Lynn) of Haverhill; two daughters, Kristy Moloney (and son-in-law Ronan) of Ancramdale, NY; Leanne Heller (and son-in-law Jonathan) of Newburyport; four grandchildren, Aoife and Saoirse Moloney, Maddox and Jessica Heller; a brother Terry Gross of Concord, NC; five nieces and four nephews.  Chuck was Pastor Emeritus at the Maple Street Congregational Church in Danvers, MA.  He served there from 1986 to 2008.

Chuck graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, received a Master of Divinity degree from Hartford Theological Seminary, attended the Graduate School of Ecumenical Studies in Celigny, and the University of Geneva, Switzerland, and later returned to Hartford Seminary, to earn the Doctor of Ministry degree.

A Memorial Service in celebration of the life of Rev. Dr. Charles N. Gross will be held at Maple Street Congregational Church in Danvers, 90 Maple St., Danvers, on Tuesday, August 13 at 11am, with a collation to follow in the social hall. 

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to Maple Street Church in support of The Rev. Dr. Charles N. Gross Scholarship Fund.  The Scholarship, established in 2008 upon Chuck's retirement as Senior Minister, honors his years of service and devotion to the church and community.  Please send donations directly to Maple Street Congregational Church, 90 Maple Street, Danvers, MA 01923.  He was ordained UCC in 1969 and began with campus ministry at UNH and associate pastor of the Community Church in Durham, NH.  In 1978, he became pastor of the Community Church in Mountain Lakes, N.J., and in 1986 was selected as the 16th Senior Minister of Maple Street Church in Danvers.
