GLASTONBURY (11/28/2012) -- The Reverend Dr. Carl F. Schultz Jr., pastor emeritus of the First Church of Christ Congregational UCC in Glastonbury and a leading pastor of the United Church of Christ, went to eternal life on Monday in Hartford surrounded by the love of his family. He was 80.
For 34 years, Rev. Schultz served as Senior Pastor of First Church of Christ Congregational in Glastonbury. Following his retirement, he served for over two years as the Interim Senior Pastor at historic Old South Church in Boston.
During his retirement celebration in 2002, then Connecticut Conference Minister the Rev. Dr. Davida Foy Crabtree shared these words of recommendation found on his decades-old professional profile: "Dedicated, conscientious, hardworking, intelligent, friendly, and personable. An outstanding Minister who is respected and loved by all."
A service in celebration of his life and ministry will be held at 1:00 pm on December 8 at the First Church of Christ UCC, 2183 Main St., Glastonbury. Visiting hours will be held on Friday December 7 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at First Church. The family has requested that gifts be made in lieu of flowers to First Church of Christ or to the Craigville Tabernacle. The Mulryan Funeral Home has care of arrangements.
