The Rev. Dr. Donald Simpson died on February 27. Don was Pastor Emeritus of East Church (Springfield) and a man who truly knew what ministry was all about. He was a product of Second Congregational Church of Holyoke (now Holyoke United) as was his late wife, Betty. Before coming to East Church in 1989, Don was Pastor at East Church from 1947 to 1962 at which time he resigned to become Central Area Minister where he served until the mid 1980's. Don was an expert on how to keep in touch with former parishoners without ever being intrusive on those who followed his tenure. He was always ready to be supportive when asked but never led by ego.
