Pastor Bruce W. Davis of the Lynnfield Community Church died on Sunday, May 17, 2015. He is the husband of the late Elizabeth A. (Russo) Davis, and is survived by his daughter Olivia Ruth Davis and her fiancé Brendan Sammataro.
Mr. Davis grew up in Lynn and attended Ripon College, Ripon, WI, and Andover-Newton Theological School in Newton, MA. Mr. Davis studied music under the tutelage of big band leader Lou Ames, conductor Francis A. Pagnotta and opera legend Alice Farnsworth Boffetti.
Bruce was a minister for the Lynnfield Community Church for many years, as well as a former member of the First Baptist Church in Lynn. He was often called upon to fill several pulpits in Lynn and the surrounding communities. He authored several new hymns and ministered at area nursing and senior housing centers.
A funeral service was celebrated on Tuesday, May 26th at 11:00AM at the Lynnfield Community Church, 735 Salem Street, Lynnfield, MA 01940. Relatives and friends were invited to call at the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn, MA 01904 on Monday from 4-8:00PN. Remembrances may be made in Pastor Davis's name to the Lynnfield-Zetland Lodge, 370 Wakefield, MA 01880, or the Massachusetts Lions Eye Research Fund, Post Office Box 6050 New Bedford, MA 02742.
