The 17 Board members, three Conference ministers and other staff spent the day at the First Congregational Church in Woodstock, CT., guided in conversation by facilitator Barbara Lemmel, Director of Tending the Fire.
The new board was formed following the June vote by the Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island conferences to join together to form a new, unified conference. Read more here.
The Board also conducted their first orders of business:
- They established an Executive Committee to direct the overall work flow of the board. That committee consists of the president, vice president, treasurer, secretary, moderator and vice moderator. The three Conference Ministers serve on the committee with voice but without vote. (The TA1 officers and members of the Board can be found here.)
- They established a Governance Committee to carry out the legal and technical work of creating a new conference, including overseeing the ongoing "due diligence" process, communicating with the Attorneys General, legally incorporating the new conference, and filing a proposal with the Business Committee of the UCC General Synod to establish a new conference.
The members of the committee are Hannah Brown (TA1 and MACUCC Board member), Frances Munro (TA1 Board and RICUCC President 2017-2018), David Lincicome (CTUCC Board of Directors) and Linda Mesler (MACUCC Board of Directors, 2017-2018).
