Ask a Question, Save a Life: QPR Gatekeeper Training

People of all ages and all walks of life may experience suicidal thoughts and consider suicide as a solution for their suffering. When someone cares and is willing to ask questions the journey towards suicide may be interrupted, allowing time for intervention and treatment. Through education, awareness and reducing the stigma of seeking help we can all work to prevent suicide and assist people in getting the help they need.
QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Gatekeeper Training provides the skills one needs to compassionately engage with someone experiencing suicidal thoughts. The QPR Institute recognizes that "Gatekeepers can be anyone, but include parents, friends, neighbors, teachers, ministers, doctors, nurses, office supervisors, squad leaders, foremen, police officers, advisors, caseworkers, firefighters, and many others who are strategically positioned to recognize and refer someone at risk of suicide."
On August 25, 2022, from 12 to 1:30 PM, Deborah Ringen, Minister of Health and Wellness, a certified QPR instructor, will offer this valuable training online. The fee of $5 covers the cost of online access to materials that can be downloaded for future reference. The downloads include a pocket reminder card and booklet as well as other valuable resources.
