Applications Being Accepted for Transformative Youth Program

HARTFORD – The Connecticut Conference is now accepting applications for the Joseph Clemmons Job Training Program (JCT), a transformative program for youth of color.  A new video highlights the impact of the program through the words of previous participants.
Named after The Rev. Dr. Joseph D. Clemmons, Sr., former pastor of the Miracle Temple, Church of God in Christ, UCC in Norwalk, the JCT program seeks to introduce youth of color to the beautiful outdoor ministry space at Silver Lake Conference Center as well as provide skills for future employment. Youth receive valuable experience as they practice application and interview skills, train and work alongside staff at Silver Lake, and receive orientation to the wider work of the church at the Connecticut Conference office.
"Through a simple statement — 'Excellence is the MINIMUM Requirement' — JCT has transformed the lives of numerous youth, giving them tools and skills for not only personal excellence, but also the ability to lead their peers towards excellence," says Isaac Monts, Program Associate for Racial Justice Ministry and Director of the JCT Program.
In the video below, past JCT participants speak about the values on which they focused during the two-week summer program and the impact of the experience on their lives.
