The Southern New England Conference has hired a new Director of Human Resources and Staff Engagement: Irma Reyes began working for SNEUCC on Nov. 8.
"Irma comes to us fabulously recommended, with deep experience in EEO compliance and Human Resources in state government and nonprofit settings," said Dawn Hammond, Executive Minister for Policy and Finance. "From our first communication, it has been clear that she understands our SNEUCC Vision and shares it. I am thrilled that she has joined our team."
Most recently, Reyes served as the Human Resource lead for the CT Coalition Against Domestic Violence, where she was responsible for the overall human resources functions associated with growing and transforming the organization. During her time there, she chaired their Diversity Action Team and led ongoing initiatives to educate and recognize diversity. Prior to that, she worked for the state of Connecticut for 13+ years, alongside Human Resources and the Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity in a management role. She is most proud her work in implementing programs for leadership development and programs for inclusivity in the workforce. She has earned her M.S. Degree in Management and Organizational Leadership.
“I find SNEUCC's spiritual mission is deeply in line with my personal values, and I believe my role to serve as the organization’s Director of Human Resource and Staff Engagement compliments that mission professionally," Reyes said.
Reyes takes the place of Simone Punancy, who left the staff in September.
At SNEUCC, Irma's primary responsibility is the development and administration of Human Resource functions for Conference staff. To the extent that her part-time schedule allows, she may also post to the Conference website resources and links that may be useful to local congregations. Current resources related to finding and hiring clergy are posted here . Resources related to the church's role as an employer are here.
