New Clergy Affinity Group to Encourage Play

Registration is now open for four affinity groups for clergy that are launching this month, including one that encourages play.

Touched by Jesus: Playing with Prayer encourages clergy to "come get out of your often overly-serious and word-filled head by attending to the physicality of grace and praying with childlike playfulness. Rekindle desire, freedom, and trust through your whole body with deep breaths, simple movements, and creative formats. Remember yourself as beloved, listen to the One calling your name, and engage in supportive peer companionship as we focus on our experiences of personal prayer."

The group will be facilitated by Brother Luke Ditewig of the Society of St. John the Evangelist, an Episcopal monastic community in Cambridge, Mass. where he enjoys ushering guests on retreat, walking along rivers, making snow angels, and arranging spaces with inviting beauty.

This group begins June 30, and will be held quarterly on the last Wednesday of the month.

The new affinity groups are being sponsored by the Together We Thrive Initiative,  a collaboration between The Southern New England Conference UCC, The Episcopal Diocese Of Western Massachusetts, and The New England Synod ELCA, Lutheran.

The other affinity groups include ones specifically geared for female clergy, and for LGBTQIA+ clergy.

Find out more about all the groups on the Together We Thrive website.
