Local Pastor Appointed National Chaplain of Lineal Society of Union Civil War Veterans

Rev. Dr. Peter Preble
Reverend Dr. Peter Preble of East Weymouth, Massachusetts has been appointed as the National Chaplain of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW) by the organization’s Commander-in-Chief, Edward J. Norris. Preble has been a Member of the SUVCW since 2014, receiving lineal membership derived from the service of Corporal William Henry Preble, Co. H, 9th Maine Volunteer Infantry.
A veteran of the United States Army, Rev. Preble is a minister of the United Church of Christ and a Moderator of the Pilgrim Association of the Massachusetts Conference of the Church of Christ. He has serves as: Deputy Chief Chaplain, Massachusetts Corps of Fire Chaplains; Chaplain, Quincy Fire Department; and as Staff Chaplain for the National Lancers, Massachusetts Organized Militia, where he recently received The United States Army Chaplain stole in recognition of his continued support of the mission of the Army Chaplain Corps and the Massachusetts National Guard. He is the Interim Minister at First Congregational Church, Salem, New Hampshire.
"Being named National Chaplain will enable me to expand upon my chaplain ministry to support the Brothers of the Order and their families," Reverend Preble stated. "I am blessed to be given the opportunity to serve the Brothers of the Order, and their families as National Chaplain."
Reverend Preble’s ministry expands the Mission of the SUVCW to foster inclusiveness and twenty-first century connectivity for those seeking to embrace their past and honor the Boys in Blue that preserved the Union and freed a People.
