2023 SNEUCC Justice Summit: Trans and Nonbinary Belonging in the Church takes place Saturday, Oct. 7, 10 AM - 5 PM, at Old South Church Boston and online. Worship, workshops, affinity groups, connection, music and more!

Lunch and Learn Justice Series presented by the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Team in partnership with the Center for Transformational Leadership. Sessions will take place from noon to 1 PM the first Thursday of the month, October 2023 to June 2024. Planned sessions include:
  • October 5: 100% ONA with ONA Ministry Team co-leader Kathie Carpenter. Register here.
  • November 2: Becoming WISE: Breaking the Silence about Mental Illness in our Churches and Communities with Sarah Lund. Register here.
  • December 7: Book discussion on The Afro-Christian Convention: The Fifth Stream of the United Church of Christ, with Rev. Dr. Yvonne Delk and Dr. Julia M. Spelle. Racial Justice Certification component available for clergy. Details to come!
  • January 4: TBD
  • February 1: Welcome.Us webinar with the Immigration, Refugee, and Asylum Task Team about resources for working with migrant communities.
  • Additional programs will center on environmental justice, migration ministry and more!

Cross-Pollination Groups on Monday evenings, facilitated by Rev. Noah Brewer-Wallin, Assistant Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. These groups, for local church leaders involved in justice issues, are an opportunity to exchange ideas, celebrate successes, and troubleshoot challenges.
  • Third Monday of each month at 6:30 PM: Environmental Ministry (green teams, creation care committees, etc). Register here.
  • Fourth Monday of each month at 6:30 PM: Racial Justice Ministry for local church leaders involved in racial justice work. Register here.
  • Coming soon on the first Monday of each month: ONA Cross-Pollination Group! 

Trans Affirming Church Affinity Groups A small cohort from select churches will meet monthly starting this Fall to:
  • Learn about experiences of trans and nonbinary people and issues they may face, particularly in a church context  
  • Learn about leading transformational change in the church community, including change management to help bring people along with them
  • Participate in peer group reflection on what participants are learning and how it applies to their unique context 
  • Receive a $500 mini grant to lead a program, project, or initiative to help the congregation or community become more trans-affirming. 
Note: Applications for these affinity groups are closed, but there will be opportunities in the spring to learn from the churches' experiences.
