Last week Congress passed, and the President signed, a new law which will require many churches to increase paid leave for employees under certain circumstances. The law also provides for reimbursement of the cost of the required leave. 

 

We are still waiting to hear about many of the details. However, UCC General Counsel Heather Kimmel has provided a memorandum and summary chart to help explain the new law. There is also an excellent summary of what we know thus far available at the Church Law and Tax website here.
