The position vacancy for the Southern New England Conference's Executive Conference Minister has been posted on the UCC Ministerial Opportunities website.
The position description calls for an Executive Conference Minister, lay or ordained, "with a proven track record of innovative leadership." The Executive is describe as being "the bearer of and advocate for the core vision, mission, and identity of the Conference [and] also the chief communicator, strategist, and philanthropic officer, partnering with all within and beyond the Conference who are working for the common good in their local communities and throughout the world."
Profiles and resumes will be accepted through April 17th, 2020.

Since the SNEUCC Board of Directors has opened this search to both ordained and lay candidates, the Search Committee is approaching the search on two tracks: going through the national setting's ministerial opportunities, as well as working with a search firm to find lay candidates who might not be found through more conventional channels. This Executive Conference Minister position will be unique within the denomination, since it calls for a person who will operate at the strategic level and will not be managing the day-to-day operations of the Conference.
“We know that there are innovative and faithful leaders out there with executive experience in the nonprofit world, and one of them might be just the right person to lead us into the next chapter of our life as the United Church of Christ in Southern New England," said Board President the Rev. Jocelyn Gardner Spencer. "By expanding our candidate pool to include both clergy and laypeople, we are opening ourselves and our process to the movement of the Spirit, who is doing a new thing in our midst."
In order to find those lay candidates, the Board recently approved hiring SIMA Partners of Chanhassen, Minnesota, to work on the second track of the search. SIMA Partners was chosen from several possible search firms due to its experience with aiding in the search for another Conference Minister in the UCC and for its unique ability to identify, through interviews with critical individuals, a set of skills that the Search Committee should look for in a candidate for this new kind of Conference Minister.
