Only the UCC could come up with such a stupid idea.

I am sorry to see this boycott proposal coming from my church, any church which cares for the aspirations of the world's poor. Shale gas, a fossil fuel extracted by fossil fuel companies, has already begun to reduce world energy prices and will do so dramatically more while reducing significantly the emissions now generated by coal. If we truly care for the "wretched of the earth" we will not block their path out of misery.

I am grateful to the UCC for this prophetic and courageous call and appreciate the process and thoughtfulness that have gone into this witness.
