Conference moves to consolidate emails

Share

The Massachusetts Conference is taking a series of steps aimed at reducing the amount of email sent to church, clergy and lay leaders by consolidating information into new weekly email newsletters.

The Conference's monthly Emailing is being replaced by a weekly Emailing, which will include more of the information that has previously been sent out in stand-alone emails, such as event notices and other announcements. The new weekly Emailings will also include links to highlights on the Conference website including news stories, blog postings, pastoral transitions, classified ads and more.

The Conference will continue to send out the monthly paper Mailing, which includes flyers about upcoming events and other resources, to church offices.

The Conference's regional offices are also in the process of consolidating the emails sent out to churches, clergy and Association leaders in their areas into new weekly e-newsletters. These include information on Association events, local church news and events, classified ads and more.

"We have been hearing from our constituents - particularly clergy - that they have been overwhelmed by the volume of email being sent out by the Conference and Association settings, and we wanted to address that concern," said Tiffany Vail, Associate for Communication. "We feel these new weekly emails will more effectively get our message out, without cluttering inboxes. We hope folks will take the time to read these emails, and share the information in them with others in their congregations."

The Conference will continue to send out its popular topical e-newsletters to those who subscribe to them. Those include the Spotlight, the Connections Christian Education newsletter, the Everflowing Streams mission & justice Newsletter, the Inspiring Generosity stewardship newsletter, the Pastoral Excellence E-News and the Sustaining Pastoral Excellence Endowment Campaign Newsletter.
