Bishop Ulises Muñoz Moraga of the Pentecostal Church of Chile - long-time mission partners of the Massachusetts Conference - has sent a letter of support following the recent tornadoes in western Massachusetts.
Greetings from your sisters and brothers in the Pentecostal Church of Chile. During these last weeks we have been very attentive to the news from Massachusetts. The images of devastation after the tornado have touched us profoundly. We want you to know that in Chile we have been praying for you and for the ministry of the church in these times of tragedy and great need.
The earth trembles, the sea rises, the wind blows and causes destruction but we who have believed in the Prince of Peace will not lose hope. In this way, our faith is a tie that unites us with ever greater depth and security, not only through suffering and pain but also through consolation, prayer and mutual support. As St Paul said in his First Letter to the Corinthians, “If one part of the body suffers, all parts suffer also.” We share in the suffering that you are experiencing even as we offer you the same comfort and solace that we have received.
We remember with gratitude how the sisters and brothers of the churches in Massachusetts accompanied us with their prayers and commitment of solidarity during the weeks and months after the disaster of the earthquake in this county. We want you to know that we also wish to accompany you in this moment of need.
With our prayers and our sincere wishes that you receive that peace, what which the world does not understand, we send this greeting.
Fraternally in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ
Bishop Ulises Muñoz Moraga
