More than 300 people from 116 churches – including congregations in New Hampshire and Rhode Island – attended the Massachusetts Conference’s second Super Saturday, held March 5 at Ludlow High School.

Participants took part in a rousing morning worship service led by five “provocative” pastors from across the Conference, and then were able to attend two workshops, share lunch and visit the marketplace before gathering again at the end of the day.

Energy was high for the event, and those who participated gave glowing evaluations of the day, with comments like “Loved it!” and “Terrific” popping up on evaluation forms.

The day also included a youth event where 21 middle and high school youth from six churches and their leaders gathered to discuss justice and putting faith in to action. They participated in the day’s worship services and put together 86 school kits, which will be distributed to children at impoverished schools and refugee camps by Church World Service.

Super Saturday was developed as a way to offer a wide selection of practical workshops to church leaders – more than could be offered at the Conference’s Annual Meeting after it was shortened to one day.

The next Super Saturday is scheduled for October 1, with the location to be announced as soon as it is finalized.
