The introduction:

“…proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness and without hindrance.”
- Acts 28:31

Dear Friends of the Massachusetts Conference, UCC,
Not a day goes by that I don’t pause to give thanks to God for the opportunity to serve among the leaders of the Massachusetts Conference, United Church of Christ. Three of the qualities that most distinguish both the MACUCC staff and our Conference Board of Directors are these:
  • We pay attention to the churches, the pastors and the leaders of our congregations. We listen to what challenges you are facing and respond, offering our experience, vision and hope.
  • We collaborate with innovative leaders in Massachusetts and beyond. We join forces with entrepreneurial efforts within the UCC and beyond. And whenever we connect with something worthwhile, we share that connection with you. We are constantly encouraging our churches as well as our lay and clergy leaders to embrace collaboration and interdependence as an expression of faithfulness.
  • We believe God is calling the UCC in Massachusetts (and beyond!) to engage a bold public witness that can offer a new public narrative of justice and hope.
And one thing more. We believe that as we live out these qualities – listening and responding, collaboration and boldness – we will be enhancing the vitality of our congregations as well as the courage and conviction of our lay and clergy leaders.

These qualities are apparent everywhere in the pages that follow. These stories – your witness – attest to my confidence in the truth of what our General Minister and President, John Dorhauer, is saying about the UCC: The Holy Spirit envisions a future in which we matter!

YES SHE DOES – thanks to our churches and the ministry to which we are called.

Faithfully,
Jim Antal
Minister and President
