Christmas, 2021
As we celebrate the birth of the Christ child into this world, we also hold that we are as much in need of hope as our forebearers of old. As they waited, I imagine their spirits queried about when change would come, when the reign of an unjust government would end. They struggled with access to healthcare, structural racism, classism, and a continued co-opting of their religious leaders and for some their very faith. They searched for safe and brave places and anticipated the reign of the future Messiah.
We are walking in similar contexts, but we have been birthed into a world where the Christ has already changed the universe as we know it. In this Christmas Season, we walk in the assurance that the Mighty God, Everlasting Parent, Wonderful Counselor and Prince of Peace not only dwells among us but within each and every part of Creation. We have also been invited to be the manifestation of his Love in and upon this earth. Walk in the celebration of a Church that is relevant, transformative and prophetic. Walk in a reality where God’s Spirit has been poured out upon all flesh, rejoice in the fact that yet again Christ has been birthed anew in YOU.
Merry Christmas,
