And while some congregations have begun laying plans to resume in-person worship, most recognize that they cannot abandon online ministry going forward. Whether it is offered in place of in-person worship or in conjunction with it, digital ministry is here to stay.
That is why the Bridge Conference Ministers, in consultation with the Board of Directors, made some changes to the new Conference staff structure to add a new position: a full-time Digital Minister to assist churches in this area.
"The Digital Minister role is responsible for meeting needs of SNEUCC Churches in designing, developing, and implementing digital worship and digital meeting initiatives," the position posting reads. "This person will provide guidance to churches to not only create totally virtual worship experiences, but will also support them in creating a hybrid plan, where in-person worship is live-streamed to congregants who are unable to attend the worship in the church sanctuaries."
The Digital Minister will provide consultant services to Conference churches in this area, and provide expertise in designing, developing and implementing virtual worship and small group gatherings.
The position is open to both lay and ordained candidates. Applications will be accepted through Sept. 7.

When the Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island conferences joined together to form the Southern New England Conference on Jan. 1, the current staff stayed in their respective positions. The Minister of Resilience: Environmental and Economic Justice will develop and implement strategy for environmental and worker justice and have working knowledge of environmental and economic justice and the ways economic inequality manifest in individual, communal and congregational life.

The Leadership Development Specialist helps focus on our core values through leadership trainings and leadership development activities that are strategically linked to the Conference’s mission and vision. Leadership Development relates to all aspects of the vision in coordination/collaboration with other Conference staff with a focus on leadership teams of clergy and laity.
