Dear colleagues,
For the past year and a half, anti-hunger advocates from each of the New England states have been meeting to talk about our efforts to reduce hunger and food insecurity and protect the needs of low-income households and families across the region.
In our initial conversations, we were very much focused on developing a strategy for the new administration, with the goal of advancing a number of initiatives to the policy forefront. Unfortunately, with the November elections our plans were somewhat derailed but we continued to discuss and are now in a position to launch our ideas in the form of a Hunger Free New England Compact.
Our vision, which I hope you share, can be found at our recently launched website "hungerfreenewengland.org" I invite you to visit the website and sign onto the compact. Both agencies and individuals are encouraged to sign on and we hope to get as many signatures as possible as we engage our congressional delegation. I am attaching a hard copy of the compact for your review.
