The Massachusetts Conference Missioner for Creation Care, The Rev. Margaret Bullitt-Jonas, has been named the winner of the 2016 EcoPreacher Contest.
EcoPreacher is a website that features sermons, essays, movie and book reviews, creative writing and ecotheological reflections. It is run by The Rev. Dr. Leah Schade, PhD, Author of Creation-Crisis Preaching: Ecology, Theology and the Pulpit and Assistant Professor of Preaching and Worship for the Lexington Theological Seminary.
Bullitt-Jonas won the award for a sermon she preached on June 12, 2016, at a special service that brought together First Congregational Church and St. John’s Episcopal Church in Ashfield, Massachusetts. June 12 was a day when people of many faiths around the world celebrated a day of prayer and action for the Earth, and a day that marked the six-month anniversary of the Paris Climate Agreement and the first anniversary of the publication of Pope Francis’ landmark encyclical, Laudato Si.
