Once upon a time, there were three excellent conferences of the United Church of Christ in southern New England: Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. Each one was a covenant body with relationships to individual associations and congregations.

Now, we've made one Southern New England Conference out of these three, which gives us the perfect opportunity to examine what it means to be in covenant as associations and as congregations within this larger conference.

  • How do we live out our theology that Jesus Christ is the sole Head of the Church?
  • What does it mean to be in voluntary relationship with each other in our congregations, our associations, and our new conference?
  • Why is it important that our ordained clergy take vows and live by an Ordained Minister's Code that places these covenant relationships at the heart of their ministry with us?
  • Who is God through Christ calling us to be in covenant?

The Center for Transformational Leadership invites you to join us in this FREE, two-part online workshop, led by Rev. Dr. Ruth E. Shaver, as we explore those questions together!

  • Part 1: Saturday, February 12, 9:00 to noon.
  • Part 2: Saturday, March 26, 9:00 to noon.

Please note: This overview experience does not fulfill the UCC History and Polity course obligation for Members in Discernment.
