Join filmmaker Michael Honey for a film showing (38 minutes run time) and discussion. Love & Solidarity is an exploration of nonviolence and organizing through the teachings of Rev. James Lawson. Lawson provided crucial strategy guidance while working with Martin Luther King, Jr. in the southern freedom struggles and more recently has helped to remake the Los Angeles labor movement.

Through interviews and historical documents, acclaimed labor and civil rights historian Michael Honey and award-winning filmmaker Errol Webber put Lawson’s discourse on nonviolent direct action on the front burner of today’s struggles against racial and economic inequality.

In addition to reflection on the film, discussion will consider the role of nonviolence in contemporary Christian activism. Register at right.
