The Board of Trustees of the United Church of Christ is pleased to announce the installation of our 10th General Minister and President (GMP), The Rev. Dr. Karen Georgia A. Thompson.

After an extensive and rigorous process the GMP Search Committee recommended Rev. Thompson  for General Minister and President of the United Church of Christ. She was nominated for GMP by the United Church of Christ Board at the March 2023 board meeting. At the 34th General Synod on July 3, 2023 in Indianapolis, IN, she was elected General Minister and President. Rev. Thompson is the first woman to serve as GMP of the United Church of Christ. She took office on August 1, 2023.
