Rev. Dr. Diane Schmitz and Bishop Yvette Flunder, SNEUCC Theologians in Residence |
The Justice Summit will include worship components, workshops, and a plenary presentation by Rev. Dr. Velda Love - Lead for Join the Movement Toward Racial Justice Campaign and Minister for Racial Justice at the National Setting of the United Church of Christ - who will share about the storytelling, advocacy, and other efforts of the Join the Movement Campaign, and the ways in which we can advance our racial justice efforts by taking part in it.
An additional plenary discussion will take place with 2022 SNEC Theologians in Virtual Residence Rev. Dr. Diane Schmitz and Bishop Yvette Flunder.
Morning workshops will center on current and emerging issues of racial justice identified as priorities by SNEC members and congregations. Attendees will bring together their knowledge and experience to work on a plan for addressing each specific issue. Morning workshops also will include resource people who can share professional or other expertise with participants as needed and appropriate. Afternoon sessions will focus on sustaining the work. Please note that just one morning and one afternoon workshop will be available to virtual attendees.
Hosted by the Southern New England Conference of the United Church of Christ, the Summit is open to people from all settings of the UCC, ecumenical partners, and everyone interested in advancing racial equity. It is an opportunity to gain information, engage in problem-solving, and connect with others committed to this work. Please note that the Conference will not host a Super Saturday this fall. If you normally attend that gathering, you might consider registering for the Justice Summit.
Cost is $59 which includes lunch, snacks, and coffee/tea. Registration is limited, so register today!
