“Danger, Will Robinson! Danger!"
"Stewardship has been kidnapped and is being held hostage by a sinister villain named ‘Paying the Bills.’”
And so begins the Introduction for Ask, Thank, Tell, Improving Stewardship Ministry in Your Congregation, by Charles R. Lane, the next book for our Stewardship Book Discussion Group.

The author
continues, “The goal of this book is to perform a dramatic rescue of stewardship, freeing it from any connection whatsoever to ‘Paying the Bills.’ The Bible talks a lot about stewardship, and it talks very little about the need for an institution to get its bills paid.

"Rather, when the Bible talks about stewardship it almost always talks about the intimate connection between how a person handles financial matters and that person
s relationship with God. In the Bible, all stewardship, including financial stewardship, is an intensely spiritual matter. It lies close to the heart of a disciple’s relationship with Jesus.”

Discussions will be facilitated by SNEUCC staff Rev. Mary Nelson, Regional Minister for South Central Connecticut, and David Cleaver-Bartholomew, Transitional ACM for Stewardship and Financial Development.  Participants are encouraged to purchase the book from www.bookshop.org which supports local bookstores and has a history of excellent customer service.
