Susan Campbell at First Church: The John P. Webster Library, of First Church, West Hartford, 12 South Main Street, welcomes local author Susan Campbell Thursday, October 3, 2019 to speak about her new book, Frog Hollow: Stories from an American Neighborhood, at 7 p.m. in the Auditorium. Campbell’s new workis a collection of colorful historical vignettes of Frog Hollow, the Hartford neighborhood just west of the State Capitol. During the Revolutionary War Frog Hollow was a progressive hub, and by the mid 1800s it was a hotbed of industry whose row houses hosted a wide variety of immigrants. Campbell’s stories bring to life the laborers, entrepreneurs, and inventors who forged a dynamic urban neighborhood.
Campbell is a distinguished lecturer at the University of New Haven's Department of Communication, Film and Media Studies, and an award-winning author of Dating Jesus: Fundamentalism, Feminism, and the American Girl, and the biography Tempest-Tossed: The Spirit of Isabella Beecher Hooker. This event is free and open to all. Please register at http://bit.ly/Susan_Campbell
