Rev. Sara Ofner-Seals

The New London Urban Outreach Program is a new ministry based out of New London, CT, with the goal of building relationships across differences of economic status, culture, and race. Our first project is a series of dinner parties with guests from local churches and guests from the New London Homeless Hospitality Center. Participants in this program will experience the following:
  • Orientation to the issues of homelessness and poverty in New London, CT
  • Learn from staff, volunteers, and former guests of the New London Homeless Hospitality Center
  • Engage in theological reflection about how our faith calls us to respond to issues of urban poverty
  • Prepare a meal for guests from the Homeless Hospitality Center
  • Welcome guests and sit down to a meal with them-- hear their stories, learn from one another
The goals of this program are the following:
  • To put a human face on the issue of homelessness and break down stereotypes of what it means to be homeless.
  • To provide a space for our unhoused friends to be seen, heard, and valued for the beloved children of God that they are.
  • To build relationships across boundaries of race, class, and culture and to work towards individual and communal transformation.
  • To gain a deeper understand of how our service towards "the least of these" is a fundamental piece of Christian discipleship.
The New London Urban Outreach Program is non-denominational and intergenerational. We welcome youth as well as adults. There is no minimum number of participants, however because we aim to make this a relationship building event, we can only accommodate up to 16 individuals for each event. To inquire further, or to RSVP for a group from your church, please contact Rev. Sara Ofner-Seals, program coordinator, at, or call 860-287-4196.
