Overview

The Youth Leader at FCC, Longmeadow will help middle and high school youth develop leadership, team building, personal and spiritual awareness through regular activities, mission trips, Christian education classes, current events discussions with a faith lens, and more. Your job will be, in partnership with the pastors and lay leaders, to sustain, advance, lead, and oversee experiential programs for middle- and high-schoolers, with safety, creativity and adaptive ability such as during COVID19 time.
 

Overall Goals

You will be in charge of the programs for helping youth develop spiritually and socially, as part of a progressive Christian congregation. This will include:
  1. Experiential, healthy programs that emphasize fun and relationship-building within our community of faith;
  2. Mission work, both locally and further afield, to deepening a sense of discipleship, of living out the gospel teachings, with open affirmation of LGBTQ youth and families.
  3. Outreach and relationship-building with church families to grow sense of caring and engagement with our church programs
We look to build the kind of youth program that will serve both the families within our congregation and also attract community youth. Partnerships with local interfaith communities welcome and encouraged.

Building/mentoring leadership among youth
 
Relationship-Building Activities
With youth (both inside and outside of scheduled church activities)
With pastors and staff
Intergenerational engagement (in partnership with the Family Ministries Director)
 
Other Activities to Include:
Scheduled youth-led involvement in Sunday morning worship
Scheduled youth-oriented worship outside of Sunday morning
Mission activities that put faith values into action
Christian Education classes, faith-building book groups for middle and high school students
 
Hours and Compensation    
Approximately 15 hours per week, September through May.     $20/hour.
