Brookside Congregational Church, United Church of Christ is in the process of creating a new model for youth Christian Education and for forming meaningful relationships between youth and adult members. Based on the input from parents, there is a desire to have children actively participate in worship services, and to engage in community/mission work both locally and outside of New England. Biblical learning through music and song is important. Outdoor experiential learning is valued. Brookside is an open and affirming church.
General Description of Job:
This is a permanent part-time position (September through June) to provide leadership and coordination for the creation of child and youth programs of Brookside Congregational Church, United Church of Christ.
- Attend weekly staff meetings on Tuesday mornings to collaborate on worship, plan activities and help lead Sunday services.
- Attend monthly Christian Formation Ministry meetings.
- Recruit, organize, train and support parents and volunteers assisting with youth programs.
- Build relationships with youth between preschool and junior high.
Desired Qualities: The perfect candidate will have solid theological training, will be visionary, creative, active, fun, and able to understand different learning modalities including kinetic, auditory, active and visual. She or he must be comfortable embracing different ways to understand God, possess a gentle and kind presence, and be able to engage children of all ages. Strong organizational, communication, and computer skills are required.
This position reports to the Pastor and works closely with the Christian Formation ministry.
Normal Work Schedule:
10 hours per week. Hours will be structured in consultation with the Pastor.
The compensation for this position is $11,700 annually. Work related mileage will be reimbursed at the IRS rate.

It is expected that employees will use discretion in discussing the business of the church and the affairs of its members and staff with persons other than church staff and their supervisors.
