YOUTH MINISTRIES DIRECTOR
Hiring from January 29th through June 11th,
with the possibility for longer-term employment
 
The United Church of Christ, Congregational in Norwell seeks an enthusiastic and spiritually grounded individual with experience working with teens who will, in partnership with our Lead Pastor and team of Youth Advisors, support our youth ministries programming. This Youth Director will oversee Youth Group and other youth activities. The Youth Director will possess strong organizational and communication skills and the ability to guide and inspire teens in our congregation to celebrate the presence of God in their lives and in the world.

Purpose of the Job
The primary objective of our Youth Ministry program is to foster personal and spiritual growth among teens, creating a sense of community and belonging for 6th through 12th grade. To this end, the Youth Director will:
  • In partnership with Youth Ministry Team, support and lead Middle School and High School Youth Group. Plans activities for weekly fellowship and special events.
  • Engage youth in age-appropriate opportunities for service.
  • Plans and runs monthly Explorers program for 4th and 5th grade children.
  • Plans and organizes annual youth service trip; plans and oversees related fundraisers used to supplement trip costs.
  • Works with lead pastor to incorporate youth participation in worship.  Plans and organizes annual Youth Sunday worship service.
  • Communicates clearly and regularly with Youth Group members, parents, leaders, and members of the Youth Ministry team via email/text. 
  • Create and maintain an environment that is safe, welcoming, accepting, and free of judgment for all youth and youth advisors and enforces the church’s Safe Church Policy.
  • Partners with staff and ministry teams to increase community outreach with the goal of growing the Youth Groups.
 Requirements

  2. The candidate is effective in working with youth.
  3. The candidate is organized, detail-oriented and flexible.
  4. The candidate will have leadership experience working with youth and has a strong commitment to teen faith formation.
  5. The candidate is effective working with and leading teams.
  6. The candidate will promote Christian values, morals, and behavior at all times.
 
Position is 8-10 hour per week and compensated additionally for time spent on service trip. Must be present at youth group meetings, unless otherwise arranged. Employment conditional upon passing CORI check. Email resume and cover letter to ahughan@uccnorwell.org to apply.
