Position Title:       Hospitality Manager – Edwards House and Irons Homestead
FLSA:                    Non-Exempt
Hours:                   Average 26.25 hours/week (.75 FTE)
Reports to:           Director for Outdoor Ministries
Department:         Outdoor Ministries
Hourly Rate:         24.00

The Hospitality Manager (HM) supports the Director for Outdoor Ministries in fulfilling the full range of responsibilities required in providing hospitality to Edwards House and Irons Homestead guests including food service and cleaning. The Hospitality Manager organizes and manages the delivery of food and housekeeping services, coordinates and communicates activities related to customer service. The Hospitality Manager serves as co-registrar and shares responsibility for record keeping and reporting as needed. The Hospitality Manager participates in Edwards community events and in fundraising activities. The ability to work flexible days, some evenings, and weekends, is a must. Participates in on call coverage rotation.  
Key Responsibilities 

  • Offers superb customer service to assure guests are met with the radical hospitality for which the UCC is known. 
  • Serves as needed as Co-registrar in the scheduling of retreats and events.  
  • Represents Edwards House at community events as needed.
  • Manages the compliance of all policies and legally required practices.
  • Manages the preparation of the rooms for each meeting or event and may perform custodial and event support duties, as needed.
  • Part of the team which prepares, cooks and serves nutritionally balanced meals for guests of Edwards House, ensuring health and safety standards are always met. 
  • Manages the acquisition of last-minute food and dietary requests of guests.  
  • Cover in the absence of the Director of Outdoor Ministries- Edwards House and Irons Homestead.
  • Manages hospitality through cleaning and refreshes sleeping rooms/guest quarters and maintains linen and housekeeping supplies when needed.
  • Identifies inventory needs and manages inventory of stock and orders more as necessary. 
  • Minimum of high school diploma or GED equivalent required 
  • Minimum two years of clerical or administrative experience preferred 
  • Minimum one year of experience in quality food preparation required 
  • Food preparation skills adequate to follow or prepare the required menu cycles 
  • Strong organizational skills  
  • Ability to manage multiple details and deadlines   
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team 
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Excellent Interpersonal skills, an initiative taker who brings enthusiasm to the team  
  • Knowledge of sanitation and safe food handling standards 
  • Serve Safe Certified or willing to attain within 30 days 
  • Choke Safe Certified or willing to attain within 30 days
  • Ability to operate food service equipment safely and properly 
  • Flexibility is required. Days and hours may change depending on need.

Situational Reasoning - Requires the ability to exercise the judgment, decisiveness, and creativity required in situations involving the evaluation of information against sensory, judgmental, or subjective criteria, as opposed to that which is clearly measurable or verifiable.

ADA Compliance:

Physical Ability - Tasks involve the ability to travel to meetings outside office, exert moderate physical effort, and may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials up to 20 pounds. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation and/or repetitive motion.
Sensory Requirements - Some tasks require visual perception and discrimination. Requires oral communications ability.
Environmental Factors - Tasks are occasionally performed with exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, animals/wildlife, toxic/poisonous agents, or pathogenic substances.
