The First Congregational Church of Plymouth, Connecticut is seeking a collaborative leader to help our congregation build on the changes that we have made to our Religious Education and Family formation during the Pandemic. The Director of Religious Education and Family Formation needs to be open to trying new and innovative ways of drawing families closer to the church and helping them grow in their faith.

This is a part-time position, $20/hour, 5-10 hours/week mid-September to mid-May. Some planning time and special programs may take place during the summer as well. 

Key Responsibilities:

-Plan and implement regular education, Christian formation and fellowship activities for children and their families.

- Maintain a system of weekly contact with church families that have children. In addition to sending a weekly newsletter update and reminders of upcoming events, families who do not attend any in-person programs for which they are signed up should be contacted via email, text message, phone calls and/or mail.

- Plan and help implement activities including; regular adult, intergenerational, educational and fellowship activities.

- Create events designed to attract families with children to the church.

- Help design an advertising and referral plan for programs for children.

- Create and maintain a system of presence at Sunday worship with church visitors who may be interested in programming for children and families. If unable to be present for a particular worship service, make a follow-up contact with the perspective family.

- Plan and implement a “Welcome Back” Sunday for families in September following Labor Day.

- Plan and implement a Confirmation program, as needed.

- Create and implement an appropriate environment for children during worship.

- Create a monthly intergenerational worship experience on Sunday mornings.
- This position will work closely with the Religious Education Committee, The Church Leadership, and The Pastor.
