The United Church of Christ, Congregational in Norwell seeks an enthusiastic, passionate, spiritually grounded individual who will, in partnership with our Lead Pastor and Family Ministry Team, support our children’s and family ministries programming. This Children’s Ministries Director will oversee Sunday morning Children’s Chapel and Church School, possessing strong organizational and communication skills and the ability to guide and inspire the youngest members of the congregation to celebrate the presence of God in their lives and in the world.
Purpose of the Job
We are an intergenerational church that promotes the full participation of children and youth in our life together. The primary objective of our children’s ministry program is to encourage Christian faith formation among our youngest members.
To this end, the Director will:
- implement and oversee programming to engage children (infants through grade 5) in our congregation on Sunday mornings, which entails:
- administering curriculum,
- supervising four paid teachers who lead the children’s program,
- recruiting volunteer members to support children’s programming,
- planning and leading Children’s Chapel worship experience 1-2 times per month,
- planning and leading monthly Explorers program for 4th and 5th grade children.
- work with our Family Ministries Team to plan family fellowship, service, vacation bible camp and outreach events,
- provide weekly communication and outreach to families,
- create and maintain an environment that is safe, welcoming, accepting, and free of judgment for all Church School members,
- implement and adhere to UCC Norwell’s Safe Church Policy.
