The mission of the LGBT Asylum Task Force Ministry of Hadwen Park Congregational Church, UCC is to support the basic human needs of LGBTQ people seeking asylum in the United States. The mission provides housing and a stipend and seeks to facilitate the provision of other resources. Additionally, the mission seeks to educate the public about the struggles and challenges of the international LGBTQ community who need to seek asylum because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

The LGBT Asylum Task Force Assistant Ministry Director is accountable for supporting the basic human needs of LGBTQ people seeking asylum in the United States that have been officially accepted into the ministry as a client, and for supporting the work of the Hadwen Park Congregational Church, UCC LGBT Asylum Task Force Ministry including the LGBT Asylum Task Force Ministry Auxiliary, the LGBT Asylum Task Force Ministry Steering Committee, and the LGBT Asylum Task Force Ministry Community Dinners/Meetings. The LGBT Asylum Task Force Assistant Ministry Director will report to the Hadwen Park Congregational Church, UCC Church Council, the Personnel Committee, and the Senior Minister, under the direct supervision of the Ministry Director of the LGBT Asylum Task Force. This is a full-time position.

Duties and Responsibilities:
 Understand and become familiar with the organization, structures and policies of Hadwen Park Congregational Church, UCC and the LGBT Asylum Task Force. ● Review the history and development of the LGBT Asylum Task Force.
● Be trained in and adhere to Safe Church Guidelines.
● Support the Ministry Director in their roles.
● Support the intake process, housing selection and fiduciary oversight of the LGBT Asylum Task Force Ministry with the LGBT Asylum Task Force Ministry Auxiliary.
● Attend monthly Church Council (when the Ministry Director cannot attend) and Church Staff meetings.
● Attend monthly LGBT Asylum Task Force Ministry Auxiliary and Steering Committee meetings.
● Attend monthly Community Dinners, as well as host and co-ordinate these dinners when the Ministry Director cannot attend.
● Provide weekly status report to Ministry Director, including a log of asylum seekers meetings.
● Provide transportation to asylum seekers for medical, legal or other appointments.
● Assist the Ministry Director in managing and increasing fundraising activities, including semi-annual mailings for monthly pledges.
● Work to increase current monthly donor dollar pledge amount.
● Assist the Grants Committee in researching eligible grants.
● Assist with maintaining donor database and contact list.
● Maintain all related social media with the assistance of the Ministry Director.
● Schedule and coordinate annual speaking engagements at churches, colleges and other institutions.
● All other duties assigned to you by the Ministry Director.
● Reporting location is Hadwen Park Congregational Church, UCC, 6 Clover St., Worcester, MA.
● Preferred location: Worcester area. Qualifications
● Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree.
● At least 1 year experience working with marginalized communities.
● Sensitivity in dealing with LGBT issues.
● Resourcefulness and problem solving skills.
● Experience in non-profit organizations.
● Comfortable working in a religious institution.
● Ability to maintain professional boundaries.
● Ability to work as part of a team.
● Ability to use technology and social media.
● Competency with Google Drive and Microsoft Office.
● A satisfactory result of all background checks including CORI and SORI. Preferred Qualifications
● Strong organization and effective communication skills.
● Sound interpersonal and public relations skills.
● Experience in fundraising and writing and securing grants.
● Familiar with immigration, settlement and social services.
● Working knowledge of United Church of Christ Safe Church Guidelines.
● Experience collaborating with social service agencies.
● Involvement with LGBT activism both locally and internationally
