***Signing Bonus: A $1000 sign-on bonus will be paid after 60 days of employment***

Salary: $21 hourly
*No Benefits/Paid Time Off Only
***We envision this position transiting to an Assistant Director of Hospitality role based on future business needs***
***This position is part-time with 26 hours per week, and will be based in Framingham, MA with some travel required; including traveling to Irons Homestead in Scituate/Glocester, RI.***

Position Summary:
The Lead Hospitality Associate supports the Executive for Camps & Retreats in fulfilling the full range of responsibilities required in providing hospitality to Edwards House and Irons Homestead guests. This position organizes, coordinates, and communicates activities related to customer service and retreat record keeping. The Hospitality Associate serves as co-registrar and shares responsibility for record keeping and reporting as needed and participates in Edwards community events and in fundraising activities.

The Lead Hospitality Associate work in the Southern New England Conference shall nurture an environment and culture that embodies the 4-part vision of the Southern New England Conference to: Make disciples of Jesus Christ; Make God’s love and justice real; Bring new life as agents of change; and for covenant partnerships, especially as it relates to how colleague interactions take place. The position should be conducted in a way that reflects God’s love onto all with whom this person has contact.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serves as or use Co-registrar in the scheduling of retreats and events
  • Ensures that all legally required practices are met prior to the arrival of any retreat
  • Offers superb customer service to assure guests are met with the radical hospitality for which the UCC is known
  • Sets up the rooms for each meeting or event; performing custodial and event support duties as needed
  • Ensures health and safety standards are always met in preparation, cooking, and serving nutritionally balanced meals for guest of Edward House
  • Cleans and refresh sleeping rooms/guest quarters; maintaining linens and housekeeping supplies when needed
  • Maintains inventory of stock, and order/replenish as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
Conference-Sponsored Events
  • The Lead Hospitality Associate will be required to participate in Conference-Sponsored events throughout the year
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Must be ServSafe Certified or willing to attain within 30 days
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in Quality Food Preparation required
  • Two (2) years of Clerical or Administrative experience preferred
  • Food preparation skills adequate to follow or prepare the required menu cycles
  • Knowledge of sanitation and safe food handling standards
  • Ability to manage many details and deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to operate food service equipment safely and properly
  • Ability to work flexible days, evenings, and weekends a must
  • Excellent Interpersonal skills, an initiative taker who brings enthusiasm to the team
  • Strong Organizational skills
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

Physical Requirements:
Data Utilization - Requires the ability to review, classify, categorize, prioritize, and/or analyze data, and/or information. Includes exercising discretion in determining data classification, and in referencing such analysis to established standards for the purpose of recognizing actual or probable interactive effects and relationships.

Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Materials Utilization - Requires the ability to use computer hardware and software and database systems in regular performance of job duties.

Verbal Aptitude - Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference, descriptive, and/or advisory data and information.

Mathematical Aptitude - Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; ability to calculate decimals and percentages; may require ability to utilize principles of fractions and/or interpret graphs.

Functional Reasoning - Requires the ability to apply principles of influence systems, such as: motivation, incentive, and leadership. Ability to exercise independent judgment to apply facts and principles for developing approaches and techniques to problem resolution.

Situational Reasoning - Requires the ability to exercise the judgment, decisiveness, and creativity required in situations involving the evaluation of information against sensory, udgmental, or subjective criteria, as opposed to that which is clearly measurable or verifiable.

ADA Compliance:

Physical Ability - Tasks involve the ability to travel to meetings outside office, exert moderate physical effort, and may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials up to 60 pounds. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation and/or repetitive motion.

Sensory Requirements - Some tasks require visual perception and discrimination. Requires oral communications ability.

Environmental Factors - Tasks are occasionally performed with exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, animals/wildlife, toxic/poisonous agents, or pathogenic substances.
