Church Musician
The duties of the Musician will be performed under the guidance of the Church Pastor, and the Musician shall also serve as a music resource for the Pastor and the Church. Pay $180-$220 per week, commensurate with experience.
Duties of the Church Musician include:
◆ Participation in weekly Sunday worship services, and four special worship services throughout the year. (Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday)
◆ Providing musical accompaniment for the worship services, using the church piano or other suitable instruments.
◆ Suggest and perform musical selections for other parts of the worship service, like the Gathering Music, Prelude, Communion accompaniment, etc. in consultation with the Church Pastor (or other worship leaders).
◆ Aid members of United Congregational Church in the development and use of their musical talents, including:
● Encourage special music by members of United
● Lead the congregation in learning new hymns
● Work with a Pickup Choir
● Occasionally teach the children songs
Qualifications:
◆ Familiarity with church hymnody and worship service structure
◆ Proficiency on the piano to provide choir and congregational singing including the ability to play simple contemporary worship style music
◆ Able to work collaboratively with the pastor, but without direct supervision
◆ Professional, dedicated, detail oriented with good people skills
