Position Summary: 

The Dover Church (“TDC”) is seeking a Coordinator of Christian Education (“CE”). The Coordinator of CE shall focus on the educational needs of TDC congregation by planning, developing, leading, nurturing and growing the ministry for children and youth (birth through adolescent-aged). The CE Coordinator will be an instrumental component in creating an atmosphere where all feel welcomed and loved, in keeping with the congregation's commitment to being open and affirming. The primary responsibilities of the Coordinator include recruiting, training and equipping teachers, volunteers and youth leaders, while supporting these individuals in the weekly endeavors of CE. This role works in concert with the Senior Pastor, the Associate Pastor, other church staff, and the CE Committee. The role directly reports and is accountable to the Associate Pastor and takes direction and guidance from the larger CE Committee. 

 Scope and Responsibilities: 

  • Plan, oversee and coordinate the Church School Program for infants through adolescent-aged 
  • Recruit, train and support CE teachers and volunteers 
  • Oversee—in person and onsite—church school each Sunday 
  • Plan annual TDC special events, including Welcome Back Sunday (September), Christmas Pageant (December), & Celebration Sunday (June) 
  • Attend regularly meetings of the CE committee as requested 
  • Communicate daily, as needed, with church staff, church members, etc. using e-mail, text and social media 
  • Be available to meet with the Associate Pastor at least bi-weekly 
  • Acquire and adapt curriculum materials; order necessary supplies and equipment 

Skills, Experience and Other Qualifications: 

  • Display a warm, inviting and accepting personality that is driven by a dedication to Christ 
  • Demonstrate a love for children and youth and a genuine interest in building personal relationships with the young people of TDC and their families 
  • Utilize strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills 
  • Possess familiarity with Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 
  • Display unquestioned ethics and character with strong judgment that promotes the safety and well-being of the congregation with an emphasis on our children and youth 
  • Possess relevant experience to the scope of the role described above
