One in series of posts by Southern New England Conference delegates to the 34th General Synod of the United Church of Christ.
In trains, cars, and airplanes,
across communities and communions,
each of us traveled to Indianapolis.
We come from the mountains and from the islands, from personal deserts, & across the Great Plains,
at General Synod 34, the Church with a capitol C, gathers.
Across our congregations, seminaries, ecumenical partners, and outdoor ministry sites,
we are first timers and Synod junkies, those joyful and the excited, tired and empty, hopeful and hurt, fed and hungry, housed and homeless.
It’s in workshops, conversations with friends, long yet worthwhile plenaries, in the exhibit hall, within fundraising dinners, and caucuses,
we experience a living witness of our people - worshiping, connecting, listening to each other, and discussing important resolutions.
Together, ceaselessly praising a God that still reigns, that is still speaking.
As one body of Christ, hands and voices lifted, we are the United Church of Christ.
