RICUCC Haiti Task Force Update

The RICUCC Haiti Task Force was founded 26 years ago when (now retired Conference Minister) Rev. Dr. H. Daehler Hayes partnered with the Rev. Jean Dorisca, founder of the Mission Evangelique Baptitise Bethesda (MEBB) churches. The RI Conference continues its Mission with Haiti - providing education, quality health care, orphan relief, and community-based services for the people of Haiti. We are engaged through student and school sponsorships, financial support for medical clinics, a nutrition program, sustained friendship and joint advocacy for positive change. We continue to regularly send groups to Haiti - Perhaps your church would like to consider such a Mission trip!

Most recently, in late May, 2016 a group of 11 people went on a 7-day trip to Haiti. This group visited the Fontamara Church, School and Clinic as well as the Ti-Marche Church and School -- sites where the Task Force has worked for 26 years. The trip participants were able to see the Fontamara School in session, visit the children in their classrooms and visit the clinic. The group also attended church on Sunday at the Ti-Marche Church built with funds donated by churches in the Rhode Island Conference, UCC. The group also visited most of the sites where the Task Force's Nutrition Program is feeding children a hard-boiled egg, five days a week, to supplement their diets with high quality protein. This program serves over 600 children in 8 sites throughout Haiti. Trip participants were able to interact with these children at several sites.

Anyone who travels with the Task Force finds their visit transformational and inspiring. They return to our churches to encourage ongoing support for our Conference's work in Haiti. Have you interest in going on a Mission Trip to Haiti? Do you have folks in your church who might be interested in engaging with our Mission Project in Haiti? There are upcoming opportunities!

November, 2016 Haiti Trip: A group of 9 people from the Peace Dale Congregational Church are already scheduled to go on their first Mission Orientation Trip this fall. They will be introduced to the ongoing work of the Haiti Task Force and will visit selected sites with our Haitian friends. They will meet the young girl that Peace Dale has sponsored through school for many years, Rosaleenda, as well as her sister, Shaineeka, whom they are also sponsoring this year.

January, 2017 Haiti Trip: Another group is now being formed with members from the Seekonk Congregational and the Kingston Congregational churches. Additional space may yet be available if others are interested in traveling with this group.

May, 2017 Haiti Trip: An additional trip to Haiti is being planned for May, 2017. During this visit there will be opportunities to visit with children in the schools and also children who receive eggs, before school closes for the summer. Space is available for this trip.

If any of these dates do not work for your church, if you are interested in further information about Mission Trips to Haiti, if you would like a presentation about the RI Haiti Mission please be in touch with:
