Join us at the Racial Justice Summit!

It is hard to believe summer is almost over.
With Labor Day just over a week away, many of us are preparing to for the new church year and all it will entail. If you have not already, now is also a great time to register to join us at the 2022 Justice Summit on Saturday, September 24.

The Summit will be a full-day session focused on racial justice. There will be sessions during which participants can develop specific plans to work on racial justice issues in their churches or communities. There also will be sessions focused on sustaining the work; a plenary conversation between our Theologians in Virtual Residence, Bishop Yvette Flunder and Rev. Dr. Diane Schmitz; worship components; and more. We also have created a more limited virtual attendance option for those who cannot be with us in person.

Authorized ministers who register and attend the full day will receive a certificate documenting their participation as contact hours in racial justice training. Authorized ministers may submit the certificates to their Committees on Ministry as they would any other documentation of racial justice training.

I am excited about the Justice Summit and look forward to the conversations that will take place there and those that it will spawn. I look forward to the ways in which it will help us to live into our shared vision of justice and equity for our congregations, conference, denomination, and world.

Stay tuned, also, for more information about other racial justice sessions that Rev. Dr. Schmitz will offer this fall, as well as other important engagement opportunities.

In the meantime, I pray that you enjoy these waning summer days. I hope you have taken or yet plan to take some time to rest and rejuvenate, and above all, I pray that you are seeing the presence and miracles of God in this season’s offerings.

Blessings and Power!
