The 2019 Legislative Session starts on Wednesday, January 9.  Take a moment to consider the following questions:

  • Are you curious about the legislative issues that CTUCC is working on at our state Capitol?
  • Would you like your voice to be heard at the Capitol?
  • Would you like a script and fact sheet emailed to you so you know exactly what to say to your State Senator and State Representative on issues that CTUCC is working on?
  • Would you be willing to work with CTUCC in our efforts to promote environmental, racial and economic justice in our state?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then I encourage you to join the CTUCC Advocate Corps! It’s easy to join! Subscribe here

The CTUCC Advocate Corps is growing and we have a goal to get at least one CTUCC person in contact with each State Senator and State Representative. Since there are 36 State Senators and 151 State Representatives, we need at least 187 members! Please prayerfully consider becoming a member.

Here are some examples of issues we could be working on this legislative session:  increasing the minimum wage; paid family medical leave; access to original birth records by adult adoptees; hydraulic fracking waste; gun safety;  mass incarceration;  quality affordable healthcare; and opposing casino expansion in Connecticut. The issues we work on are determined by the Resolutions passed at our Annual Meetings.

The CTUCC Advocate Corps is open to both clergy and lay leaders. If you are clergy, please share this with members of your congregation. Include it in your next newsletter or your Sunday Bulletins over the next several Sundays. Also, if you know of anyone in your congregation that may be interested in being part of the CTUCC Advocate Corps, please ask them to reach out to me at michelem@ctucc.org . Thank you for sharing this opportunity with your congregation!

Reach out to me if you would like to visit your State Senator or State Representative at the Legislative Office Building (LOB) in Hartford. We can arrange a meeting and encourage other constituents to attend.

Many State Senators and State Representatives changed with the November 2018 election. Be sure to visit openstates.org to find your State Senator and State Representative.
Thank you for prayerfully considering becoming part of the CTUCC Advocate Corps. We are a moral voice at the State Capitol and now more than ever, we need our voices be heard. We are called to live out our moral values in public policy to work and encourage legislation for justice on behalf of the most vulnerable among us.  I look forward to working with you.
