Your prayers are requested for a gathering of the three Southern New England (RI, MA, & CT) Boards of Directors this Saturday in Woodstock, CT. This gathering will bring together the leadership of our three UCC Conferences to consider a large number of documents that have been put together by the Together As One team. This Together as One Team has been hard at work since the confirming vote on a resolution in Hartford, CT in June, 2017 to “put flesh on the bones” for a New Conference. Many details of this covenantal partnership have come into focus and we anticipate an exciting and energizing conversation about some of these ideas on Saturday.
Perhaps you are wondering what the vision and purpose of this New Conference is. Perhaps you had the opportunity to engage in one of the recent Focus Groups where there was discussion and reflection about hopes and dreams for the New Conference. Perhaps you are a delegate from your local church who plans to attend the next shared Annual Meeting of the RI, MA, & CT Conferences in Springfield, MA in June 15 & 16, 2018. We expect to have more conversation in the coming months following the hoped-for affirmative vote by the three Conference Boards of Directors this Saturday. We hope you will engage with us in imagining what a New Conference might bring to us all. And in the meantime, please hold us in your prayers this weekend as we continue to move ahead with God’s help towards a New Conference.
