Many Voices, One Mission: We Must Move

It’s February.  Time to kick it into gear!!! The new year has begun.  New resolutions were made.  New goals are ahead.  A new you is ready to go!!

And a new US! It promises to be a BUSY year in the CT, MA, and RI Conferences! Jesus is asking us for a “new church.”  We are soul searching and creating our WHY.  We will build new partnerships, cultivate existing ones, do the work in new ways, and re-envision our futures.  It’s a time of uncertainty, excitement, joy and change.  I’m eager, and exhausted and overwhelmed just thinking about it.

We are at the beginning. God is here. We will trust that and move forward.

We must not be motivated on our journey this coming year by what we can see.  We are map-less.  But we cannot stand still.

2 Corinthians 5:7, reminds us that “For we walk by faith, not by sight”.  That scripture does not say we OUGHT to walk by Faith – it’s acknowledging that we, as believers, DO in fact live by Faith.  We know that the fastest way to get from one point to another is a straight line, but as I sit in meeting after meeting (TA1, historic Board, Leadership Council, Staff, Vision Refresh, Annual Meeting, General Synod, Support Staff, etc etc etc) it’s always very apparent that there are no straight lines to follow.  We are called to do a new thing! We are in God’s labyrinth, and we do not know where the middle is or what treasures lie within.  But it’s not about “getting there.”  It’s the journey that we are on that’s the treasure.  It’s the journey that must motivate us.  It’s our Faith along this new road that must drive us.  We must trust and move our feet forward.

Prayer: Lord of Light, you are my guide. My strength.  My courage.  My destination. I shall not stand still and wait but rather I shall move forward in the work that you call me to do.  I will follow your voice, trust and move my feet forward.  Eyes of Grace, opened wide. Amen.
