Innovation is a Perennial Call to the Church

Innovation is a perennial call to the church.  Put another way,

"Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?  (Isaiah 43:18-19)

Taking bread and wine and calling for the remembering of his Body, Jesus was an innovator.  Creating a leadership council for the church, Peter was an innovator.  Taking the message to the gentiles, Paul was an innovator.

The need to do the new thing has never been greater.  While demographic and lifestyle choices have been downsizing our churches, only churches of innovation, refreshed tradition, and creative service ministry promise to move us to the future.

Who could be better to teach us about innovation than the Rev. Dr. Katharine Henderson, the president of Auburn Seminary?  Reimagining the work of the institution, Auburn's new mission is to "Trouble the Waters, Heal the World."

Katharine will be our Keynote speaker at General Association this year, September 24 and 25.

There will also be opportunities to use imaginative and playful thinking to spark creative ideas, to discuss how innovative idea becomes reality in the local church and to connect with your ministry colleagues.

Go beyond the brainstorm, connect to your creative powers, socialize your ideas with others, and hear how innovation changed Auburn Seminary.
