It’s about disciples.
It’s about to be the week called Holy and our congregations are preparing the way for the times of worship and gathering of the communities who are called by Christ to be witnesses to the ends of the earth.
Our preachers are prayerfully considering the messages that they will preach. They are reading their Bibles, they are opening their hearts to God’s wisdom and guidance and they are surely praying that God will allow them to speak the Word that God wants God’s people to hear. This is for so many colleagues a time like no other in the church year.
I give thanks for our leaders. I give thanks for our congregations that will be buzzing this coming week as regular worshippers join with new worshippers to hear the Good News of the Gospel proclaimed. It is my prayer that through our various gatherings that new light and new ears will be opened to hear and to be assured of the embracing love of God in Jesus. It is my prayer that our pastors be equipped with words to say and prayers to be prayed and deep silence to be observed. It is my prayer that I might hear anew the full Gospel light and be changed and transformed to be a faithful disciple.
As we walk together though Holy Week let us proclaim the Good News of Jesus. Hosanna in the Highest! Love one another. It is finished. He is Risen! Thanks be to God for the days and moments of inspiration, praise and challenge that are just over the horizon.
