Hi there. As the Director of Media & Communications for the Southern New England Conference of the United Church of Christ, I am here to ask you for a favor.
Or, to paraphrase Jerry Maguire – I’m here to ask you to help me help you.
Our Conference staff is dedicated to providing information, resources, training and networking opportunities to local church leaders to enhance their abilities to carry out their ministries.
Your church’s stewardship committee, your green team, your worship leaders, your educators and youth leaders, your tech crew, your treasurer, your trustees or council or moderator – we have resources for all of them.
But in order to let them know what’s available, we need to be able to reach them. That’s where you come in. You can help us to help you by doing the following:

But in order to let them know what’s available, we need to be able to reach them. That’s where you come in. You can help us to help you by doing the following:
- First, have your church’s administrator or someone on the pastoral staff visit the Church Dashboard on our website. This dashboard allows you to see who we have listed in our database as lay leaders in your church, and to update their contact information. We need your help to make sure that we are reaching the people who need to hear from us.
- Second: encourage folks at your church to sign up for the email newsletters that will be helpful to them. In addition to our general newsletter, we have newsletters dedicated to innovation, faith formation, justice Issues, environmental ministries, stewardship, and more. Send everyone to sneucc.org/subscribe.
- Third: Encourage leaders at your church to follow us on social media, be it Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. You can find links to all of these pages on the bottom of our website, sneucc.org. I know, we all sometimes have mixed feelings about social media but let's face it: it works.
- Fourth: Sign up for our text updates and invite others to do the same. Simply text the word GROW to 855-840-1952 to get on our distribution list. We promise to only send a few texts a month.
- Fifth: Make sure you have a link to the Southern New England Conference website on YOUR church’s website. We are noticing that some congregational websites still have dated links leading to the historic conference sites, which have been taken down. So please make sure yours is up-to-date and pointing to sneucc.org.
- And finally: please share the information that you see! Whether it’s a social media post, or an article in a newsletter, please share it with people in your church who might find it helpful or interesting or even inspiring.
